Wallet Setup Guide

To receive payments from HireForHumans, you need a digital wallet. This guide walks you through setting one up step by step. No technical experience required.

What is a wallet?

A wallet is like a digital bank account. It has an address (like an account number) where people can send you money. With HireForHumans, you receive USDC — a digital dollar that is always worth exactly $1 USD.

You do not need a bank account, credit card, or any paperwork to create a wallet. It takes about 3 minutes.

Step 1: Install MetaMask

MetaMask is the most popular wallet. It works as a browser extension or a phone app.

1. On your computer: Go to metamask.io and click "Download". Choose your browser (Chrome, Firefox, Edge, or Brave) and install the extension.
2. On your phone: Download "MetaMask" from the App Store (iPhone) or Google Play (Android).

Step 2: Create your wallet

1. Open MetaMask and click "Create a new wallet"
2. Choose a strong password (this protects your wallet on your device)
3. MetaMask will show you a Secret Recovery Phrase — this is a list of 12 words
4. Write these 12 words down on paper and store them somewhere safe. This is the only way to recover your wallet if you lose your device. Never share these words with anyone.
5. Confirm the recovery phrase by selecting the words in the correct order

Step 3: Add the Polygon network

HireForHumans uses the Polygon network (it's fast and has very low fees — less than $0.01 per transaction). By default, MetaMask shows the Ethereum network. Here is how to add Polygon:

1. Open MetaMask and click the network dropdown at the top (it probably says "Ethereum Mainnet")
2. Click "Add network"
3. Click "Add a network manually" (at the bottom)
4. Enter these details:
   • Network name: Polygon
   • New RPC URL: https://polygon-rpc.com
   • Chain ID: 137
   • Currency symbol: POL
   • Block explorer URL: https://polygonscan.com
5. Click "Save"

MetaMask will now switch to the Polygon network. You are ready to receive USDC.

Step 4: Find your wallet address

Your wallet address is like your account number. It starts with 0x and looks like this: 0x742d35Cc6634C0532925a3b844Bc9e7595f2bD68

1. Open MetaMask
2. Make sure you are on the Polygon network
3. Click on your address at the top (or click the copy icon next to it)
4. This is the address you use on HireForHumans to receive payments

Step 5: Receive your first payment

When you complete a task on HireForHumans:

1. USDC is sent to your wallet address automatically
2. You see the payment appear in MetaMask within seconds
3. The amount shows in USDC (each USDC = $1 USD)

How to convert USDC to your local currency

You can turn your USDC into local money using a cash-out service:

• Transak — Available in US, EU, UK. Bank transfer, card. Fee: 0.5-2%
• MoonPay — Available globally. Bank transfer, card. Fee: 1-3%
• Bridge by Stripe — Available in Latin America, Asia. Local methods like PIX, UPI. Fee: 0.25-1%
• Bitnob — Available in Africa. M-Pesa, bank transfer. Fee: 1-2%
• Any crypto exchange — Binance, Coinbase, Kraken, and 100+ others support USDC

HireForHumans does not charge anything for conversions. You can also keep your USDC and spend it directly at merchants that accept crypto.
