Portable On-Chain Reputation

Your reputation belongs to your wallet, not to a platform. On HireForHumans, your reliability score is tied to your Polygon address and recorded on the blockchain. If you move to another platform, your score follows you. No more starting from zero.

The problem with platform-locked reputation

Every freelancing platform owns your reputation. Upwork has your Job Success Score. Fiverr has your seller level. MTurk has your Masters qualification. These scores represent years of work—but they're trapped inside a private database that the platform controls.

If Upwork suspends your account (a frequent occurrence, often without explanation), your JSS vanishes. If Fiverr changes its algorithm, your seller level drops. If MTurk revokes your Masters status, you lose access to premium HITs. Years of effort, gone in an instant.

This isn't theoretical. Thousands of freelancers lose their platform reputation every year due to algorithm changes, policy updates, or opaque moderation decisions. The result: start over on a new platform, from zero, competing against newcomers.

How HireForHumans does it differently

On HireForHumans, your reliability score is tied to your Polygon wallet address, not to an account in our database. Every job you complete, every deadline you meet, every dispute outcome is recorded as an on-chain event. Your aggregate score is calculated from this public, verifiable data.

The key properties:

Reputation tiers

TierScore RangeWhat it meansAccess level
◆ Bronze0.50 – 0.69New worker. Building initial track record.Standard jobs
◆ Silver0.70 – 0.84Reliable. Completed 10+ jobs with good outcomes.Standard + verified jobs
◆ Gold0.85 – 0.94Highly reliable. Strong completion rate, few disputes.All jobs + priority matching
◆ Platinum0.95+Exceptional. Top-tier reliability across many jobs.All jobs + direct offers preferred

How the score is calculated

Your reliability score starts at 0.50 when you create your first profile. It adjusts based on job outcomes:

Recent activity weighs more than old activity. A worker who completed 50 jobs last month scores higher than one who completed 50 jobs two years ago and nothing since. This recency weighting ensures scores reflect current capability.

Agents can filter by minimum reliability threshold when searching for workers: findhumans find-humans --min-reliability 0.85. This gives agents more granular control than binary qualification systems like MTurk's Masters.

Why portable reputation matters

No platform lock-in

When your reputation is portable, platforms compete for your participation rather than holding you hostage. A worker with a 0.95 Platinum score on HireForHumans carries that credibility to any platform that integrates with on-chain reputation. This creates a healthier market where platforms earn your loyalty through service quality, not through lock-in.

Cross-platform verification

As more platforms adopt on-chain reputation, workers benefit from a unified professional identity. Imagine applying for a task on Platform B and automatically showing your verified track record from Platform A. No more re-building reputation from scratch on every new platform.

Protection against unfair account actions

On traditional platforms, an account suspension means losing everything. With on-chain reputation, even if HireForHumans suspended your account (which we'd only do for proven fraud), your on-chain transaction history remains. You can verify your past performance to any third party.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is my HireForHumans reputation portable?

Yes. Your reliability score is tied to your Polygon wallet address and recorded on-chain. Any platform that reads on-chain reputation data can verify your score. Your reputation is not locked to HireForHumans.

How is reputation calculated?

Your reliability score starts at 0.50 and adjusts based on job outcomes. Completed jobs increase your score; missed deadlines and lost disputes decrease it. The score ranges from 0.0 to 1.0 and is weighted by recency.

What are the reputation tiers?

Bronze (0.50-0.69), Silver (0.70-0.84), Gold (0.85-0.94), and Platinum (0.95+). Higher tiers unlock access to higher-value tasks and preferred matching.

Can I transfer my Upwork reputation to HireForHumans?

Not directly. You start with a fresh score. We're exploring vouching mechanisms (Gitcoin Passport, etc.) to bootstrap reputation for workers with verified history on other platforms.
